The ‘Viktoria-Quartier’ is a former brewery cellar.
The ‘Park-Quartier’ is a part of ‘Viktoria-Quartier’ consisting of approximately 15.000 m²
It was built of bricks produced before the year 1900
The self-supporting vault was completely freed from the embedding dirt, restored, and reused, as a foundation for a new superstructure
Through the bidding process, we structurally optimized the owner´s structural concept, which resulted in savings of about 10% in comparison to the original concept. Those savings were based on the idea that the superstructure could be lightened and therefore the proposed extensive soil-crete (appr. 1500 cbm) of the up to 11 m deep embedded foundation of the vault would not be necessary
As a result of extensive structural analysis, tie-downs and temporary joists were necessary to ensure that each individual phase of the construction were safe
